Slant front drop down writing surface with retractable supports
Opening the slanted front reveals several pigeon hole compartments, one cubby with a hinged door, two hidden storage columns and three small drawers
There are four curved drawers, all with original hardware. Each drawer has a locking mechanism but the key was lost long ago
As best as I can determine, this is probably from the 1930s or 1940s. It was in my grandparent's house growing up and belonged to another family member prior to that
This has been in regular use for many decades and therefore shows notable wear. It appears the veneer on the slanted front has been reglued along the top edge at some point. Other parts of the veneer are chipped or need gluing. One of the retractable supports is missing the end piece (but still functions). The drawers slide in and out fine but could be a bit smoother if given some attention
About 30 years ago my mom intended to refinish this piece and started stripping the finish, starting with the small drawers and storage columns. But life got busy and she didn't get very far. Please see photos
The number 42 is stamped on the back along with some handwritten numbers
Measures approximately 40.5" tall x 32" wide x 17" deep. Across the top is about 30.5" wide but the claw feet make it a little wider at the bottom, closer to 32"
